2005-06 LAROSA'S HIGH SCHOOL MVPS OF THE YEAR

SINCE 1986, LAROSA'S HAS BEEN GREATER CINCINNATI'S ONLY ORGANIZATION TO NAME THE YEAR'S TOP HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETES. THIS YEAR, BECAUSE THE FEMALE ATHLETES HAVE BEEN SO STRONG, WE HAVE A TIE VOTE. PLEASE JOIN US IN CONGRATULATING THE THREE LAROSA'S MVPs OF THE YEAR FOR 2005/2006!
Connor Smith Colerain High School Class of 2006 Football-Basketball-Track & Field Colerain senior offensive lineman Connor Smith was a dominating force on the football field for the Cardinals, and a key cog his junior year in the team's 15-0 record and the Ohio state Division I championship. Connor was GMC Conference Offensive Player of the Year... Cincinnati Div. I Player of the Year... Gatorade Ohio Player of the Year... a 1st team Parade Magazine All-American and a U.S. Army All-American who played in the All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas. He was also named the area's Offensive Lineman of the Year by the Anthony Munoz Foundation and was finalist for the National Football Foundation's local chapter's "That's My Boy Award." Connor also played two years of basketball and three years of track & field in discus and shot put during his varsity career at Colerain. Connor is following in his father's footsteps � his dad Joe was an offensive lineman at The Ohio State University -- and that's where Connor will suit up next season, playing for the Buckeyes. Angela Bizzarri Mason High School Class of 2006 Cross Country-Track Running superstar Angela Bizzarri has won eight Ohio state running championships � two in cross country and six in track, along the way setting many area and school records. She was the Ohio Div. I cross country champion her freshman and junior years, and was state runnerup her senior year. In track, Angela was the Ohio state champion in the 3,200 run her freshman, sophomore, junior and senior years, becoming the only female runner in Ohio history to win the Div. I state championship in the 3,200 run four years in a row. She was named 1st team all-state each year as well as Southwest Ohio Track Runner of the Year. Angela ran a 10:39.55 in the 3,200 at this year's Tennessee Volunteer Classic, recording the fastest time in Cincinnati girls' track history. She also has the city record in the 1,600 run. Angela this year was the first runner in school history to qualify for state in four different events, and has had her jersey retired. She will run next year � and study bio-engineering -- at the University of Illinois. CONGRATULATIONS, ANGELA! MVP of the Week - May 9, 2006		Emily Thompson Taylor High School Class of 2006 Cross Country-Track-Soccer-Basketball Taylor's Emily Thompson is a marvel of athletic versatility... in her high school varsity career, Emily lettered 15 times in four different sports, and was named 1st team all-city four times. Emily has won five Ohio state running championships �two individual and two team championships in cross country, and one individual championship in track. She holds six school records in running. She has been Cincinnati's Div. II Cross Country Runner of the Year three times. In track, four times Emily has been named 1st team all-city. In soccer, (played during cross country season) this past season she scored 23 goals and was named 1st team all-conference, all-city and all-Southwest Ohio. In basketball, Emily averaged 23 points-11 rebounds a game during the regular season and was named Conference Player of the Year... 1st team all-city... 2nd team all-Southwest Ohio District... honorable mention all-state... and was selected to play in the Cincinnati East-West All-Star Game.
