MVP ACCOMPLISHMENTS: One of Cincinnati's
best pitchers is Loveland senior righthander Karen Simmons, a 4-year
starter who holds numerous school records, both pitching and batting.
Last year, Karen went 19-3 with 228 strikeouts for the 25-4 Tigers,
who were FAVC Buckeye co-champs and won their first-ever district
championship. In the district final, she pitched a 3-hitter, striking
out 11 in a 3-1 win vs. Mason. It was her 19th win of the season,
a school record. She has earned many honors, including 1st team
all-league 3 years in a row, and 1st team all-city twice. She
plays for the Lady Lasers Gold team during the summer. Also an
academic all-star active in community service, Karen is a member
of national honor society, student council and plays trumpet in
the jazz band. Her favorite entertainer is "my friend Krystine
Kauffman" and her most-like-to-meet is Lisa Fernandez. She
will play fast-pitch next season at Northern Kentucky University.
