She is one of the best-ever to play the game at McNicholas High
school. Senior Haven Dwyer is a versatile all-star softball player,
having played multiple positions (pitcher, infielder, outfielder) and
holds two dozen single-season and career school records in the sport.
Entering her senior season, in the circle, Haven had thrown 16
shutouts in her varsity career and three no-hitters. And, what a day
she had earlier this season when, in a 16-0 win vs. Alter, not only
did she pitch a perfect game but also at the plate she went 3-3 with a
double, homerun, five RBI and two runs scored! Then, in a postseason
28-0 win vs. Clark Montessori, she pitched a no-hitter while at the
plate she went 3-4 with two doubles, a homerun and seven RBI. She was
named GCL Co-Ed Athlete of the Year, first team all-league, first team
all-SWO District Div. III and first team all-Ohio Div. III this past
season. Her team finished an impressive 12-2 in league play, 22-4 over
all. Haven led the league in hitting (.674) and RBI (47) as well as
wins in the circle (20), strike outs (297) and ERA (0.39).
In her sophomore season for the GCL Co-Ed champs, (the junior season
was wiped out by the Covid pandemic), Haven batted a robust .612 with
44 RBI, eight home runs and 45 stolen bases. In the circle, she went
12-1 with 120 strikeouts in 83 innings pitched and a 0.25 ERA, which
led the league, plus nine shutouts. Her 12 wins were second most in
the league and her 120 strike outs were third most in the league. She
was the GCL Co-Ed Central Player of the Year, first team all-city Div.
II (Enquirer), first team all-league for the second straight year and
first team all-SWO District for the second straight year.
Of the numerous school records she holds, she is the all-time leader
in career hits, doubles, triples, batting average, stolen bases and
RBI plus in the circle career wins, strike outs, ERA, shutouts,
no-hitters and perfect games.
Haven also played four years of varsity basketball for the Lady
Rockets. She averaged six points-four rebounds a game this past
season, with double-digit scoring games vs. Kings (18 points),
Mariemont (14 points) and Purcell Marian (13 points). She was
honorable mention all-league.
A good student active in community service, she is a member of
National Honor Society and has made the Dean's List the last 11
quarters. She also plays softball for the Ohio Hawks Gold-Hutchinson
club team and has committed to play collegiately at Purdue
University-Fort Wayne.
Her favorite athlete is Sis Bates, favorite book is The Outsiders,
favorite movie is The Art of Racing in the Rain and most-like-to-meet
is Michael Jordan.
