Cameron Hergott joined the Beechwood Tigers as the quarterback in his
sophomore year, and promptly led the Tigers to a 12-2 record and a
Kentucky Class A state championship, the program's third straight and
14th all time (which ranks third in the Commonwealth of Kentucky). He
came up big in the state title game, a 21-20 win vs. Pikeville, when he
accounted for all three of the Tigers' touchdowns (two TDs passing and
one TD running.) He was named MVP of the state title game. He got this
season off to a positive start when he threw a touchdown pass in
Beechwood's opener, a 20-14 win vs. Corbin.
Beechwood last year moved up to Class 2A for Cameron's junior campaign,
and Cameron threw for 2,076 yards and 15 touchdowns and connected on
61.9% of his passes in leading the 8-6 Tigers to the district and
regional titles and to the Kentucky Class 2A state semifinals. He also
rushed for 751 yards, scoring 12 TDs. He was a NKAC all-star, District 6
Player of the Year and a finalist for Cincinnati.com Sports Awards'
Small School Football Player of the Year.
In his career, Cameron has passed for 3,747 yds. (39 TDs) and rushed for
1,298 yds. (19 TDs.)
Cameron also played basketball for the Tigers. He is getting some
college interest for football, but has not yet selected a college to
attend next year. His favorite athlete is Ken Griffey Jr., favorite
entertainer is Elvis Presley, favorite book is The Bible, favorite movie
is How the Grinch Stole Christmas and most-like-to-meet is Lonzo Ball.
