One of Northern Kentucky's most prolific scorers, senior Sam Vinson is
an all-star point guard who has played varsity basketball for Highlands
High School for four years and, entering this season, has already scored
1,033 points with 344 rebounds and 251 assists in his great career.
Last season, Sam helped the 28-4 Bluebirds win the first district
championship in more than 10 years, averaging 24.7 points a game plus
8.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 3.7 blocks per game. He had numerous big
performances, including nine double-double games, three triple-double
games and six additional games of scoring 30+ points. He scored 44
points vs. Louisville Eastern, 40 points vs. Louisville Waggener, 40
points vs. Dixie Heights and 36 points vs. Anderson.
Sam earned many honors last season, including being named 9th Region
Player of the Year, NKAC Div. II Player of the Year, 36th District MVP,
plus he made the all-tournament teams of the district and regional
tournaments and was third team all-state.
A great student who is active in community service, Sam also plays
basketball for the Shining Stars club team. He will play collegiately at
Northern Kentucky University.
His favorite athlete is Dejounte Murray, favorite entertainer is Danny
Duncan, favorite book is The Magic Treehouse series, favorite movie is
Scooby Doo and most-like-to-meet is LeBron James.
