One of the top-ranked high school baseball players in the state of Ohio in the class of 2025 is Moeller senior pitcher Zion Theophilus. So far this season, Zion is 4-1 on the mound with a 2.33 ERA. He has struck out a league-leading 54 batters in 33 innings pitched. One of his wins was a masterful no-hitter vs. Elder in which he struck out 17 batters, tying a school single-game record.
Zion enters this season coming off a stellar junior campaign when he finished the season 10-1 with a 1.15 earned-run average. He struck out 86 batters in 55 innings and had three complete-game shutouts. His 10 wins led the GCL-South as did his 86 strikeouts while his 1.15 ERA ranked third in the conference. He led the Crusaders, who were defending Ohio state champions, to a 29-3 record (9-0 in league play). The Crusaders were GCL-South champs and regional runners-up.
For his junior year accomplishments, he won numerous honors. He was GCL-South Pitcher of the Year, Cincinnati Pitcher of the Year (Southwest Ohio Coaches), first-team all-city (Enquirer) and first-team all-Ohio Div. I. He was also Gatorade Ohio Player of the Year and a finalist for the Cincinnati Enquirer's All-Star Awards' Player of the Year and selected to the 2024 Perfect Game Dream Team.
A good student (4.5 weighted GPA) who is very active in community service, he also plays for the Canes National/Mets Scout Club team. He has committed to play at the next level at Louisiana State University and enjoys watching the MMA in his spare time.
His favorite athlete is Conor McGregor, favorite entertainer is Creed, favorite book is Never Finished, favorite movie is The Dark Knight and most-like-to-meet is Joe Rogan.
