Success began early for Maddie Strong, now a graduating senior star
track and cross country runner for Scott High School.
Maddie had success in track from the beginning. She was regional
runner-up in the 3200 run in 2019, an event in which she won the
regional championships in both 2021 and 2022 and again finished as
regional runner-up in 2023. She was also state runner-up in the track
3200 run in 2022 and last season , she was a member of the 4x800 relay
team that finished as runners-up in 10:14.66 at the Class 2A regional
track championships and the 4x400 relay team that finished fourth. She
holds four track school records.
In cross country, she has won three regional championships, twice been
regional runner-up and once finished third at the regionals. She was
cross country state champion in 2022 and three times was named
Northern Kentucky Cross Country Runner of the Year; she has been named
all-state six times.
Maddie polished off her cross country career as a senior this past
fall when she moved up to Class 3A and ended up winning the Class 3A
Region 5 race in 19:15 and placing fifth at the state meet with a time
of 18:35. She was the only local girl to break the 19-minute mark in
any of the three classes at the state meet.
A good student who is active in community service and involved in
Student Council, Maddie will continue her running excellence at the
next level, having committed to the University of Cincinnati.
Her favorite athlete is Jacob Thomson, favorite entertainer is Taylor
Swift, favorite book is Malibu Rising, and her favorite movie is
Little women.
