Indian Hill High School has a two-sport all-star in senior Brooke
Arington, who excels in basketball and tennis.
In tennis, Brooke last season helped Indian Hill win the CHL
championship for the 26th league title in a row, plus the girls won
the Ohio Div. II team championship. Brooke finished third at state in
doubles with partner Lillian Dwyer and they were named by the Enquirer
as Cincinnati Div. II Doubles Team of the Year. She finished with a
13-1 record in singles and a 4-0 record in doubles. She was CHL Player
of the Year and SWO District Player of the Year. In addition, she was
a finalist for Cincinnati Player of the Year by the Cincinnati High
School Sports Awards.
In basketball, Brooke this season helped her team win a CHL
co-championship. She averaged about nine points-three rebounds a game,
with double-digit scoring efforts vs. Finneytown (23 points), Reading
(19 points), Naples High School (18 points), and St. John Neumann (13
points.)She was second-team all-CHL. Her junior year, Brooke averaged
11.9 points a game, to go along with 2.4 rebounds a game. She earned
second-team all-CHL, first-team all-district and honorable mention
all-city Div. II honors by the Enquirer.
"Brooke is a fearless competitor," says her varsity basketball coach,
Rachael Smith. "She is respected by her peers for her competitive
edge, can-do attitude and leadership. Her ability to be an elite-level
multisport student-athlete is a testament to her hard work and
dedication on the tennis court and basketball court and in the
classroom."
A great student who is very active in community service, Brooke will
continue her tennis play next year at Butler University. In her spare
time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and
volunteering for various organizations that help at-risk children.
Says her varsity tennis coach Wade Ward: "Brooke is a great athlete
and works extremely hard on and off the tennis courts. She represents
the tennis program and the high school with great leadership and
pride. Brooke is extremely competitive, very coachable and is one of
the best tennis players to come through our high school. Brooke will
be greatly missed! I'm extremely happy she's continuing her tennis
career at the next level at Butler University. Butler is lucky to have
her.""
Brooke's favorite athlete is Emma Raducanu, favorite entertainer and
most-like-to-meet is Taylor Swift, favorite book is It Ends With Us
and favorite movie is Tangled.
