The GGCL traditionally produces many star soccer players, and this
year the conference returns an all-star player in Seton senior striker
McKenzie "Kenzie" Carle, who helped lead the Saints to the program's
first-ever regional title and first-ever Ohio state championship last
season, finishing with a 20-3-1 overall record. In the state
championship game, a 1-0 win vs. Strongsville, Kenzie had the winning
assist on the only goal of the game.
Kenzie is the reigning scoring leader in the league. Last season, she
was the GGCL co-leader in goals (14) and points (40) and was second in
assists (12). She was named first-team all-GGCL, first-team all-city
(Enquirer) and honorable mention all-Ohio.
Kenzie got off to a good start last season. She scored a three-goal
hat trick in the 9-2 season-opening win vs. Fairfield. She then scored
two goals in a 6-0 win over Ursuline. She scored two goals and had an
assist in the Saints' 4-0 win over St. Ursula, and she had a goal and
an assist in a 2-0 win vs. East Central. She also scored one goal in a
4-3 win over Oak Hills. She started strong this season, too, in a 5-0
Seton win over Anderson, Kenzie scored a goal and had an assist.
A great student, she also plays soccer for the Kings Hammer Academy
club team. Her favorite athlete is Carli Lloyd, favorite entertainer
is Justin Bieber, favorite book is Twilight, favorite movie is The
Shining and most-like-to-meet is Mia Hamm. Kenzie will play soccer at
the next level, having committed to Bellarmine University.
COACH'S QUOTE – "Kenzie brings a great attitude and work ethic
to practice every day. She pushes herself and encourages her teammates
to do their best! Great teammate and team leader!"
— John Volker, Varsity Soccer Coach
