La Salle senior Koy Beasley is a two-sport all-star in football and
track. He is one of the area's best safeties and was a sought-after
football recruit in the state of Ohio in the class of 2024. Koy has
committed to play football at the next level, at Purdue University.
A three-year varsity starter as a defensive safety, Koy tied for the
Greater Catholic League-South lead in interceptions as a sophomore
with three, plus he added 25 tackles and a fumble recovery
Last season as a junior, on offense as a receiver, he had 23
receptions for 407 yards and three touchdowns. On defense, he had 40
tackles, one forced fumble, one interception and four pass breakups.
He also had 508 yards in kickoff returns with a touchdown. Koy was
named first-team all-GCL-South, first-team all-city Div. II by the
Enquirer and second-team all-Ohio. He was selected to participate in
the Under Armour Next Football Camp series in Columbus. The Lancers
have a solid football tradition with four Ohio Div. II state
championships. This season he had 17 tackles, a forced fumble and an
interception. Offensively, he had 18 receptions for 299 yards and
three touchdowns, and he was named second-team GCL South. The Lancers
finished 4-7 on the season, losing to Winton Wood 12-6 in the first
round of playoffs.
Also excelling in track, Koy holds three track school records - in the
100 dash, 4x200 relay and the 4x100 relay. His junior year, he was
state runner-up in the 60m at the Indoor Track & Field Championships.
At the GCL-South outdoor meet, he won the 100 dash in 10.58 and also
won the regional 100 dash in 10:58 and was regional runner-up in the
200 in 22.04. He also helped the Lancers win the regional championship
in the 4x100 relay in 42.10 and the Ohio state championship in 41.42.
He was named first-team all-city in track & field by the Enquirer.
Highly recruited, Koy has committed to play football at the next
level, at Purdue University.
