Lebanon senior left-handed pitcher Colton Hartman is an all-star
performer who holds the school-record for single-season strikeouts.
Perfect Game named him as a pre-season All-American heading into this
season. He is rated as Ohio's second-best player overall in the 2023
class by Prep Baseball Report and was rated during the preseason as
the number one high school player in Ohio by USA Today.
Colton this season is 6-2 on the mound for the ECC co-champions with a
shutout and a league-leading 88 strikeouts in 53 innings pitched. At
the plate, he hit .352 with 19 RBI. The Warriors finished as district
runners-up, going 21-9 overall, 14-4 in conference play.
Last year as a junior, Colton helped lead the 20-12 Warriors to their
first-ever district championship. He pitched 61 innings, earning a 4-3
record and leading the ECC with 114 strikeouts in just over 60 innings
pitched. He also pitched two shutouts and had a 1.607 ERA. Also an
outfielder, at the plate, he hit .218 with 19 RBI and seven extra-base
hits, including two homeruns.
Big games on the mound included tossing a no-hitter with 14 strikeouts
in Lebanon's 1-0 win over Elder in the district semifinals, and
tossing seven innings of one-hit ball, allowing just one unearned run,
while striking out 12 in a Warrior's 7-1 victory over Anderson.
Colton has earned many honors for his baseball accomplishments. His
junior year, he was named first-team all-ECC, first-team all-city
(Enquirer) and second-team all-Ohio. He also was selected for the
Perfect Game All-American Game in Phoenix, Arizona, the Team USA 18U
Trials in North Carolina and the East Coast Pro Series in Hoover,
Alabama.
A good student who enjoys fishing in his spare time, Colton also
played a year of football for the Warriors. He has committed to play
baseball starting next fall at the University of Louisville. His club
baseball team are the Bo Jackson Elite Team and the Indiana Bulls
national team.
His favorite athlete is Mike Trout, favorite entertainer is Trevor
Bauer, favorite book is The Giver, favorite movie is Moana and
most-like-to-meet is Morgan Wallen.
