Senior Danny Austing has made a name for himself at Taylor High School.
He is the third all-time leading scorer in Taylor boys' basketball
history with 1,387 career points. Danny finished this past season as the
CHL's leading scorer, averaging 19.8 points a game, and was the top
field goal shooter at 57.1%. He was named CHL Player of the Year,
first-team all-city Div. II, first-team all-District Div. II and
third-team all-Ohio Div. II.
Danny had numerous big games this past season for the reigning CHL
champion Yellowjackets, including scoring 41 points vs. Talawanda, tying
a school record for most points scored in a game. He also had 32 points
vs. Deer Park, and 26 points vs. both Indian Hill and Finneytown.
This comes on the heels of an impressive junior campaign when he
averaged 18 points a game, with four rebounds, 2.4 steals and two
assists per game. He shot 54% from the field and 74% from the free-throw
line. His big-scoring games included games vs. Finneytown (32 points),
Lawrenceburg IN (25 points), New Richmond (25 points), Madeira (22
points), Harrison (22 points) and Mariemont (22 points). He was named
first team all-CHL, first team all-District, and honorable mention
all-state Div. II.
Danny also plays for the Midwest Basketball Club team, and he will play
basketball collegiately at Mount St. Joseph University. He is also a
four-year varsity letterman in golf for the Yellowjackets and was second
team all-CHL all four years.
His favorite athlete is Joe Burrow, favorite entertainer is Will
Ferrell, favorite book is I Survived the Attacks of September 11,
favorite movie is Step Brothers and most-like-to-meet is Stephen Curry.
