Cooper high school senior Rylan Wotherspoon is a former Kentucky Mr.
Golf winner (the only Northern Kentucky golfer ever to win this award)
and a golfing All-American.
Rylan first started playing varsity golf in the seventh grade and
entering his senior season he already had been the medalist in 28
invitationals, a school record. Prior to his junior year, he won the
Greater Cincinnati Junior Met by six strokes with a two-day total of
4-under 140. He was the KHSAA state runner-up last season and at the
Kentucky state championships this season, he carded a five-shot over par
149 to finish tied for 3rd place. This past summer, he won the KGCA
All-State Championship, with rounds of 69 and 71, finishing three under
par.
Rylan is a four-time conference champion and a three-time regional
champion, and has been named first team all-state three times. He was
the Kentucky Golf Coaches' Player of the Year and was a match play
competitor at the U.S. Junior Amateur Championships.
An honor student with a 4.2 GPA, Rylan is active in community service
and has committed to play golf next year at the University of
Cincinnati. His favorite athlete is Conor McGregor, favorite entertainer
is Sabastian Maniscalco, favorite book is Of Mice and Men, favorite
movie is Us and most-like-to-meet is Tiger Woods.
