Elder has a good one in senior quarterback Ben Hambleton, who through
this regular season threw for a league-leading 2,408 yards and 17
touchdowns. In the season opener this year, a 28-6 win vs. Covington
Catholic, Ben set a Panther record when he and Drew Ramsey hooked up for
a 99-yard pass play for a touchdown, recorded as the team's longest TD
pass. Then, in a big 59-58 vs. Moeller this season, he passed for 413
yards and four touchdowns, plus he rushed for an additional touchdown,
and in a win vs. Football North (Canada), he threw for 438 yards and
four touchdowns. In the first round of playoffs, a 55-48 win over
Colerain, he passed for 295 yards and four touchdowns. It was Coach Doug
Ramsey's 200th head coaching win. The Panthers ended up losing to
St. Xavier in the second round of the Ohio Div. I playoffs.
Ben threw for at least one touchdown in every game this season. He is
coming off a memorable junior campaign, when he threw for 1,915 yards
and 20 touchdowns in leading the Panther charge. He had a 67% completion
percentage in nine games. For his efforts, Ben was named 2nd team
all-GCL South and was invited to the prestigious Elite 11 regional
tryouts in Indiana.
A great student with a 4.0 GPA, Ben was selected to play in the
Blue-Grey All-American Bowl. He has not yet committed to a college.
His favorite athlete is Tom Brady, favorite entertainer is Leonardo
DiCaprio, favorite book is All American Boys, favorite movie is Pursuit
of Happiness and most-like-to-meet is Kobe Bryant.
