One of Cincinnati's best wrestlers on one of Cincinnati's top
wrestling teams is La Salle senior Lucas Byrd, a four-year varsity
competitor and a wrestling All-American. The Lancers' team is ranked
#4 nationally by USA Today.
Lucas is the reigning sectional, district and Ohio state champion in
the 113 lb. weight class, and entered his senior campaign with an
impressive 131-17 record in varsity matches. He is only the second
Ohio state wrestling champion in school history
His junior year, Lucas finished the season with a 46-4 record and
earned numerous honors. He was GCL-South Co-Wrestler of the Year, 1st
team all-conference, 1st team all-city and a finalist for the
Cincinnati.com Sports Awards' Wrestler of the Year.
Lucas was a 2017 Cadet World Team member and was ranked second in the
nation and seventh in the world. In May 2018, he won the USA-Ohio
Freestyle and Greco Ohio state championships in the Junior 120 weight
class.
A good student who is active in community service and likes to sing,
Lucas will wrestle collegiately at the University of Maryland.
His favorite athlete and most-like-to-meet is Kyle Dake, favorite
entertainer is Kevin Hart, favorite book is Harry Potter and favorite
movie is Baby Driver.
