Badin Senior Gracie Cosgrove is an all-star basketball player and the team's leading scorer, who helped lead the Rams to a 20-8 overall record and a regional runner-up finish last year as a junior. She has had a great senior season, with double-digit scoring games vs. Alter (35 points), Fairfield (32 points), McNicholas (31 points), Crestwood Prep (29 points) and Ponitz (27 points). She has scored more than 1,300 points in her history-making career and is the school's all-time leading scorer, in girls or boys basketball.
“Gracie is a four-year varsity player who may go down as the best outside shooter to ever walk through the doors at Badin High School,” says her varsity head coach Tom Sunderman. “She has been a big part of our success the last three years, making the Final Eight in each of her years at Badin.”
Gracie last season led the league in three-point shots made with 95 and was second in three-point percentage at 37%. She was second in the league in scoring with 16.3 points a game. She holds the school record for scoring 48 points in a game her sophomore season that included a state-tying record of 14 three-point baskets made.
Last season, she was named first-team all-GCL-Co-Ed, first-team SWO District Div. II, first-team all-city (Enquirer) and was a finalist for the Cincinnati Enquirer All-Star Awards' Basketball Athlete of the Year. She also plays for the West Virginia Heat club team.
A great student (National Honor Society), Gracie also played four years of varsity soccer for the Lady Rams. She plans on playing basketball at the next level and has numerous offers, but has not yet committed to a college. Her favorite athlete is Caitlin Clark and favorite movie is Hustle.
COACH'S QUOTE
–
“Gracie has faced multiple face-guarding situations but still finds a way to score 15 - 20 points each game and stretch out the other teams' defense, opening up driving lanes for our other girls. Her ability to shoot off the pass, the dribble and in transition makes her a difficult player to guard.”
—Tom Sunderman, Varsity Basketball Coach
