An Under Armour All-American, senior big defensive lineman Jowon Briggs is leaving quite a football legacy at Walnut Hills High School. He is the first All-American in Walnut Hills' history and was rated as Ohio's top defensive tackle. He will play in the nationally televised Under Armour All-American Game in Orlando January 3.

A three-year varsity starter, Jowon this season had 54 tackles and six sacks while being double-teamed by most teams who also frequently ran to the opposite side of the field. He was named the ECC's Defensive Player of the Year, 1st team SWO District and will play football collegiately at the University of Virginia.

His junior year, Jowon had 47 tackles and three sacks. He was named 1st team all-ECC for the second time and 2nd team all-SWO District.

Jowon also wrestled for one season and will be competing in track & field this spring for the fourth straight year. Throwing the shot put and discus, he was ECC Track & Field Athlete of the Year in 2017.

A good student who is active in community service, Jowon has also won a theatrical award for Best Lead Actor in the school's stage production of Ragtime.

His favorite entertainer is John Coltrane, favorite book is Seth Baumgartner's Love Manifesto, favorite movie is Seven Pounds and most-like-to-meet is "My grandpa."
