St. Xavier's Liam Clifford is a talented senior who can play several
positions on the football field. A receiver who has played some
quarterback, MaxPreps rates Liam as one of Ohio's Top 50 players in the
class of 2021. He was also named preseason second team all-Ohio by
MaxPreps and was named to Sports Illustrated's preseason high school
All-American Watch List. Additionally, he was named preseason first team
all-area by TriStateFootball.com.
As a receiver for the Bombers last year, Liam had 77 receptions for
1,180 yards (led league) and 13 touchdowns, plus he had 1 rushing TD. He
was the first GCL South receiver to go over a thousand yards in
receiving since 2017. He helped lead the Bombers to a 9-3 record and a
regional semifinals appearance.
His talents were recognized with numerous awards - he was named GCL
South Co-Receiver of the Year, first team GCL South, first team all-city
(Enquirer), first team all-SWO District and second team all-Ohio.
Liam holds several school records, including most passes caught in a
game (13 vs. Moeller), most receiving yards in a season (1,180 yds.) and
most TD passes caught in a season (13).
Liam will follow in his older brother Sean's footsteps, playing his
collegiate football at Penn State University. A good academic student
with awards in physics, he is active in community service. His favorite
athlete is Julian Edelman, favorite entertainer is Mark Wahlberg,
favorite book is The Outsiders, favorite movie is American Sniper and
most-like-to-meet is Michael Jordan.
