Norwood senior Maddie Baker is an All-American runner and her junior
year was Miami Valley Conference Runner of the Year in both cross
country and track.
In cross country, Maddie is the school's lone girls' cross country
competitor and had some key wins this season while notching the second
fastest time in the conference (20:34). She won the Clark Montessori
Invitational for the third straight year and won the Taylor
Invitational. She was runner-up at this year's conference meet and was
named 1st team all-MVC.
Her junior year, Maddie was MVC cross country champion in 21:12.68,
finishing fourth at the Div. II district championships. She was named
MVC Cross Country Runner of the Year and for the third time 1st team
all-city. She holds the school record in the 5K run in 19:10.
In track, Maddie was 2018 MVC champion in the 800 (2:28.80) and 1600
(5:23.72) runs, finishing the 3200 run as conference runner-up. She
was named MVC Track Runner of the Year and 1st team all-conference for
the second time. She holds track school records in the 400, 800 and
1600 runs. She earned track All-American status competing last summer
at the National Track Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Not only is Maddie a great student, but she also played a year of
varsity soccer and competed on the varsity swim team her junior year
for the Indians. She is a National Honor Society student, sings in the
Norwood Silhouettes Choir and is active in community service.
Her favorite athlete is Usain Bolt, favorite entertainer is Brendon
Urie, favorite book is Hollow City, favorite movie is The Greatest
Showman, and most-like-to-meet is Luke Bryan.
