One of Cincinnati's best golfers is Walnut Hills senior Katie
Hallinan, who is a four-year varsity starter, including her freshman
year when she was #1 player on the Eagles' men's team because there
was not a girls' team that year. She shot a 67 this year at the ECC
tournament to take conference runner-up honors.
Last season, Katie averaged and area record 35.83 per nine holes and
265 yards on drives. She was medalist 15 times in 18 high school
matches. She was ECC champion for the second time and was the Ohio
Sectional champion. Her honors included being named by the Enquirer as
Cincinnati Div. I Golfer of the Year and 1st team all-city.
In 2015, she was Ohio state Div. I runner-up, the best finish ever for
an Eagles' player. A huge accomplishment was in 2016 when she won the
Greater Cincinnati Women's Metropolitan Championship, one of the
youngest players ever to do so at age 16.
An Academic All-American with a 4.0 GPA, Katie is active in community
service and will play golf next season collegiately at the University
of Illinois.
Her favorite athlete is Lexi Thompson, favorite entertainer is Stephen
Colbert, favorite book is Catcher in the Rye, favorite movie is The
Day After Tomorrow and most-like-to-meet is Ezekiel Elliott.
COACH'S QUOTE – "Katie has that internal drive, determination
and focus to be the best she can be at whatever she is working at."
— Larry Klein, Golf Coach
