A multi-talented athlete, senior Xavier Johnson in football is a
highly recruited four-year varsity starter who plays both offense at
wide receiver and defense at cornerback
In his first four games this season, Xavier helped the Silver Knights
to a 3-1 record, displaying his versatility with nine TDs, including
five TDs receiving, two TDs rushing, one TD on a punt return and one
on a kickoff return.
His junior year for the 7-4 MVC Scarlet runners-up, Xavier led the MVC
in
receiving yards (919), receptions (51) and yards per game (91.9). He
also
rushed for 517 yards, 3 TDs, and his school-record 99-yard kickoff
return for a
TD in a win vs. Clark Montessori. The play was #4 nationally on
MaxPreps' Top
10 Plays of the Week. On defense, Xavier had 35 tackles and 3 INTs
(one
returned for a TD).
Xavier earned numerous honors last season, including being named 1st
team all-MVC, 1st team all-city, 1st team SWO District and 1st team
all-state Div. VI.
Xavier also plays basketball for the reigning MVC Scarlet champs
(26-1) who were an undefeated 13-0 in league play. He averaged eight
points a game and was named 2nd team all-MVC. He also ran track and
played one year of lacrosse at SCD.
His favorite athlete is Odell Beckham Jr., favorite entertainer is
Kevin Hart, favorite book is The Life We Bury, favorite movie is the
Fast and Furious series and his most-like-to-meet is Kobe Bryant.
