tennis star Jimmy Roebker (featured on the cover of May’s ESPN Rise
magazine) last season notched an undefeated 18-0 record while victorious in
his 3rd straight regional tennis title. He then went on to claim the
Kentucky state singles championship, becoming the first player from Northern
Kentucky to achieve that feat since 1990, and the first state tennis champ
in school history. He has earned numerous honors, including last season NKY
Tennis Player of the Year and 1st team all-state for the third time. A
noteworthy occurrence happened his freshman year when both Jimmy and his
sister Emily (Notre Dame Academy) were 9th region singles champs, only the
3rd time in Kentucky history when brother and sister were regional champs at
the same time. A super student (National Merit Finalist) active in community
service, Jimmy will play tennis next season at Xavier University. His
favorite athlete is Kim Clijsters and most-like-to-meet is John Wall.
COACH’S QUOTE – “Jimmy is a hard-working student.
His success in the classroom carries over in everything he does. He is a
friendly young man who helps the rest of the team improve at each practice,
and he cheers on his teammates in our matches.”—Al Hertsenberg,
Tennis Coach.
