Rated #1 in the country in his weight class, Orlando is an All-American
in both freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling-- a rare feat. Unstoppable last
year (49-0 with 35 pins, both single season school records), he won the Ohio
state Div. I championship at 215 lbs., and was named GCL and Cincinnati
Wrestler of the Year and 1st team all-state. During the summer, Orlando was
USA national runner-up in Greco-Roman wrestling. “Orlando is a kid
that comes along only a couple of times in a coach’s lifetime,”
says coach Dick McCoy. "He is very coachable, and his work ethic and
willingness to be the best drives him. I have not had a wrestler like him
before." Also an outstanding defensive football player, he helped the
Panthers to the Ohio runner-up title and was named 1st team all-GCL South
and SWO district and honorable mention all-state. His favorite movie is The
Waterboy and most-like-to-meet is wrestler Dan Gable.
COACH'S QUOTE – "Orlando comes to practice ready to go
everyday and truly enjoys it all. His love for the sport and his teammates
is what separates him from everyone else. He is a great role model to our
younger wrestlers and it is not above him to help out with our grade school
programs on a weekly basis. He will be a very successful young adult if he
keeps up this kind of attitude and work ethic. The sky’s the limit for
this young man." – Dick McCoy, Wrestling Coach
