MVP ACCOMPLISHMENTS: One of Cincinnati's
best in basketball is Taft senior forward Deseree Byrd whose big
games this year include 28 vs. Conner, 27 vs. Meadowdale and 25
vs. Hughes. A McDonalds' All-American nominee, Deseree averaged
a double-double (18 points-12 rebounds) as a junior for the 19-2
district runners-up; she was named Conference and Cincinnati Div.
II Player of the Year, 1st team SWO district and 2nd team all-Ohio.
"What makes Des a great student-athlete," says coach Rhonda
Craig, "is
her dedication to be the best. She is just one of those special
kids who has a gift to make others better on the floor, in the
classroom, in the halls and community." A 1,000-point career scorer,
Deseree, who is active in community service, will play next year
at the U. of Louisville. Her favorite athlete and most-like-to-meet
is Dwayne Wade and her favorite entertainer is Joe. Her AAU team
is the Lady Tigers.
