Withrow senior Albert Kalala is a two-sport athlete who, in track
& field, is a high jump state and national champion.
His junior year in the high jump, Albert was the regional champion
(6-08) for the second straight year and then went on the win the Ohio
state Div. I championship with a jump of 6-10:00. He was named 1st
team all-ECC and 1st team all-city (Enquirer).
His is also a national champion in the high jump. During the summer,
he won the high jump (6-10.25) at the New Balance National Outdoor
Track & Field Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Albert also played one year of soccer and two years of basketball for
the Tigers. In basketball this past season, he averaged 10.2
points-9.5 rebounds per game and was named 1st team all-ECC.
His favorite athlete is LeBron James and his most-like-to-meet is high
jumper Mutaz Essa Barshim.
