Highlands' senior Ethan Shuley is a four-year varsity runner and a Kentucky state champion in both cross country and track.

In cross country, he is the defending Kentucky Class 2A state champ, covering the 5K course last year in a Class 2A record time of 15:58. He was Highlands' first-ever state cross country champion, and holds the school record time of 15:18.

Ethan was named Gatorade Kentucky CC Runner of the Year, Coaches Association Ky. CC Runner of the Year and NKY Co-Runner of the Year.

In track, Ethan captured three Kentucky state titles last season -- in the 1,600 and 3,200 runs and as anchor on the champion 4x800 relay team, which set a state record of 8:07.08

His sophomore year, Ethan also won state titles in the 3,200 run and as part of the 4x800 relay team when the Bluebirds won the over all team state title, the school's first in 55 years. He holds the school record in the 1,600 (4:13) and 3,200 (9:07) and was named NKY's Track Co-Runner of the Year.

Active in community service, Ethan is also an academic star and member of National Honor Society.
