Senior Drew McDonald is a remarkable star in two diverse sports -
Basketball and golf.
In basketball, Drew is a four-year starter and already a member of the
1,000-point club, having scored 1,199 points entering his senior
season. His junior year, Drew averaged 13.2 points and 7.5 rebounds
per game and helped lead the 'Breds to the Kentucky All A state
championship and was named to the state all-tournament team.
He has earned numerous additional honors, including 1st team all-NKY
and all-region and 2nd team all-state. He will play basketball next
season at Northern Kentucky University.
In golf, Drew is a five-year starter and holds several school records.
He averaged 74 this season and was the individual All A regional and
Kentucky state champion. He was also NKAC Conference Player of the
Year and was tournament champion of the Kentucky senior all-star
tournament.
With a 4.66 weighted GPA, Drew is 1st team academic all-state and is a
member of National Honor Society. He has athletic NKU bloodlines --
mother Christie Freppon-McDonald was a standout basketball player at
NKU; father Jeff played tennis at NKU, and late uncle Bill Aker was
the NKU baseball coach for 29 years.
