A four year varsity starter, senior Samantha Leshnak is a team
captain, goalkeeper and occasional forward for the Mt. Notre Dame
Cougars.
Her junior year, Samantha recorded 109 saves, eight shutouts in the
net, leading the GGCL. She was named 1st team GGCL, 1st team all-city
and 2nd team all state.
During the summer, Samantha plays for the Ohio Elite Soccer Academy
and is a member of the USA U17 youth national team. She has played
soccer in 24 states in the past three years.
An academic all-star who is very active in community service, she has
committed to play soccer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill.
Her future goal: "Win a gold metal in the Olympics with the United
States crest on my jersey, standing with my hand over my heart singing
our nation's anthem. Singing with tears of joy and triumph."
Her favorite athlete is Peter Schmeichel, favorite entertainer is
Jason Aldean and most-like-to-meet is Iker Casillas.
