Senior Gus Ragland helped Moeller win three Ohio state championships
(2 in football, 1 in baseball) in his remarkable high school career.
In baseball, Gus was a big part of the 32-2 Crusaders' Ohio state Div.
I title last season. As a pitcher he was 7-0, (.69 ERA) with 51
strikeouts in 50 1/2 innings. He was named 2nd team all GCL and 1st
team all city.
In football, he was quarterback of the 14-1 Ohio Div I state champs.
He was MVP of the state title game, setting a state playoff record by
accounting for all eight of the Crusaders' TDs -- five rushing, three
passing. He had a magical season, with 2,058 passing yards (22 TDs)
and 1,674 rushing yards (30 TDs). He was GCL Player of the Year,
Cincinnati Div. I Player of the Year, Southwest District Offensive
Player of the Year, and Ohio Offensive Co-Player of the Year.
Also a Crusaders' basketball player for the GCL South and sectional
champs and a member of student council, Gus will play football next
season at Miami University.
COACH'S QUOTE – "Gus is a great young man to coach and watch. He
knows the value of hard work on the field and in classroom as he has
excelled in three sports and through a rigorous class-load while a
student at Moeller High School."
— Tim Held, Baseball Coach
