Olympic Trials
A 4-year varsity competitor for Ursuline Academy, senior Emily Slabe
is an All-American swimmer and is the reigning GGCL Swimmer of the
Year.
Emily so far has 6 Ohio state championships, including 2 individual
titles in the 100 backstroke, 3 titles in relay events and 1 overall
team state championship last season. Her 53.74 in the 100 backstroke
at the Ohio championships set a state final meet record. She also
holds state records as part of 3 relay teams.
She has been named Swimmer of the Year at the Ohio state championships
twice, and has been named all-GGCL 3 straight years. An Olympic Trial
qualifier in 2 events (100 and 200 backstroke), Emily also is a 3-time
YMCA national champion. She has committed to the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill.
A National Honor Society student who is active in community service,
her favorite athlete is Elizabeth Beisel, favorite entertainer is Mila
Kunis and most-like-to-meet is Natalie Coughlin.
