Lauren Slatten is one of the area's best pitchers and was recently
named by the Women's Sports Association as the 2013 Sportswoman of the
Year in softball. She is off to a strong start this season, going 14-2
in the Highlander's first 17 games with 7 shutouts.
Last season, Lauren was 19-12 with a GMC record 390 strikeouts. She
had a 1.33 ERA with six shutouts and two no-hitters. She also hit .404
with 19 RBI, seven doubles and three triples, helping the team to a
sectional championship, a 1st ever district title and a regional
runner-up finish.
For her performance, Lauren was named Cincinnati Div. I and GMC Player
of the Year. "Lauren is very passionate about the game of softball.
She lives for the pressure of being on the mound and getting to pitch
against other teams' best batters," says her coach Jackie Cornelius
Bedel.
Active in community service, Lauren has committed to play softball
next year at the University of Texas.
