Senior Kailee Bransford, the younger sister of University of Notre Dame guard and former Cougars standout and two-time Ms. Ohio Basketball K.K. Bransford, is making a name for herself on the basketball court.
As a sophomore, Kailee averaged 10.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, and was second in the Girls Greater Catholic League with 2.8 assists per game. In the 2023 district championship, she made a buzzer-beating layup to knock off previously undefeated Talawanda.
Last season as a junior, Kailee averaged 12.2 points per game, which was second-best in the GGCL. She led the league in assists, averaging 2.5 a game, plus averaged four rebounds and 1.8 steals per game. She helped the Cougars win a sixth straight league title, going an undefeated 8-0 in league play, 24-4 overall. They were also district champs and regional runners-up. For her stellar efforts, she was named GGCL Player of the Year, first-team all-city by the Enquirer, first-team all-region, second-team all-state and was a finalist for Basketball Athlete of the Year by the Enquirer's All-Star Awards.
She has started strong this season, too. She is second in the league in scoring average (15 ppg.) and first in assists (4.3 apg). She scored 30 points vs. Lawrence North, IN, 23 points vs. Fairfield and 21 points vs. Lakota East.
A good student who is active in community service, Kailee has committed to play next year at the University of Akron. In her spare time , she loves to cook and bake. Her favorite athlete is Steph Curry, favorite entertainers are Drake and SZA, favorite book is Smile, favorite movie is Lemonade Mouth and most-like-to-meet is Jared McCain.
