- MVP Accomplishments: Lakota West senior Dane Romero was a 1,000+ yard rusher for the
Firebirds last season as a running back, and he switched to QB this season in high fashion. As
a junior, he rushed for 1,010 yards and holds the school record for longest rushing TD from
scrimmage (89 yards). He set another school record this season at QB when he became the first
Firebird to both pass and run for 100+ yards in a single game -- in a 28-6 win over Winton
Woods, He passed for 139 yards-2 TDs and ran for 112 yards-1 TD. As a defense back, he also
had a sack and fumble recovery in that game. Active in community service, including the PAWS
animal adoption agency, Dane also plays basketball for the Firebirds, and his summer AAU team
won the Ohio state title two years in a row. His favorite athlete is Michael Vick.
