These days Kings High School senior Elise Marchal is busy on the hardwood, where last season she helped the basketball squad go 22-6 and appeared in the DI regional final. She averaged 6.4 points and 5.7 rebounds a game and was named second-team all ECC. She already has two double-digit scoring efforts in the early going this year with 12 points in a win vs. Milford and 11 in a win vs. Anderson.

But Elise is better known as an elite, All-American volleyball player for the Knights, who are the reigning ECC and Ohio Div. I state champions. An outside hitter/middle blocker, Elise was listed in PrepDig Ohio as the No. 2 player in the state in the class of 2024 and she was this season's ECC Offensive Player of the Year, the Ohio District 16 Player of the Year by the Coaches' Association and first-team all-Ohio.

Kings this past season earned the program's second straight league title. The Lady Knights finished the regular season undefeated in conference play at 18-0. Kings captured the school's first-ever district title in volleyball after a straight-set win against Springboro then the Lady Knights defeated Ursuline in the regional semifinals, becoming the first non-GGCL volleyball team to make it to the regional finals since 2012; Kings then beat St. Ursula in the regional finals to become regional champions.

In the Ohio Div. I volleyball tournament, Kings won its first-ever Ohio state championship in three sets vs. Lewis Center Olentangy Orange to finish 28-1 on the season. Elise made history as her 28 kills in the three-set match set an Ohio state tournament record. During the season, she led the ECC with a single-season record-setting 479 kills and was second in pass points with 1,175. She also had 198 digs, 59 blocks and 58 service aces. She had 1,330 kills in her great varsity career.

Elise had a strong junior campaign, too, when she notched a league-leading 389 kills, 57 blocks (second in the ECC), 194 digs, 53 aces (third in the ECC) and 675 pass points. She was a finalist for Cincinnati Volleyball Player of the Year by the Cincinnati High School Sports Awards. A great student (4.1 GPA) who is active in community service, Elise will play volleyball at the next level at Appalachian State University.

In her spare time, she enjoys dog-sitting, Sudoku, bike riding, swimming and working out. Her favorite athlete is Ashley Evans, favorite entertainer is Taylor Swift, favorite book is The People We Keep, favorite movie is La La Land and most-like-to-meet is Joe Burrow.

COACH'S QUOTE – "Elise's dedicated work ethic, along with an abundance of God-given talent, has made her one of the best volleyball players in the state. She is also an amazingly supportive teammate."
— Amanda Meadows, Volleyball Head Coach
