Turpin senior Samantha "Sam" Bush is one of the area's finest runners
in both track and cross country. In track, she won the mile run at the
2019 Raleigh Relays in North Carolina and her 4:52.82 was the fourth
ranked time in the USA.
Sam already holds school and ECC Conference track records in both the
1,600 (4:50.96) and 3,200 (10:36.70) runs. She also holds the SWO
District record in the 1,600 (4:51.72).
Her junior year, Sam was ECC, district and regional champion in both
the 1,600 and 3,200 events. She was named ECC Track Distance Runner of
the Year for the third straight time.
In cross country, she is the school and district record-holder, and
her best time of 17:30 is the second fastest in Cincinnati history.
Her senior season, she was ECC champ in 17:51.25, helping her team win
the ECC title. It was her second ECC cross country championship. She
was also Div. I SWO District champ in 17:45.51, helping the Lady
Spartans win the district title.
Sam was named ECC Cross Country Runner of the Year for the second time
and was the Enquirer's Cincinnati Div. I Cross Country Runner of the
Year. She also was Cincinnati.com Sports Awards' Cincinnati Cross
Country Runner of the Year and the Women's Sports Association Cross
Country Sportswoman of the Year for the second time.
Active in community service, Sam will run collegiately at North
Carolina State University.
Her favorite athlete is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, favorite
entertainer is David Dobrik, favorite book is Looking For Alaska,
favorite movie is Harry Potter and most-like-to-meet is the
Kardashians.
