2004 MVP
of the Year Nominees
Buddy further expanded LaRosa's involvement with High School sports when he instituted the LaRosa's Male and Female High School Athletes of the Year. Six boys and six girls are recognized as finalists; and two winners are presented at a gala banquet during the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. These athletes may be from any class; but the MVP of the Year Award may only be won once during a High School student's career. The winners are judged solely on their performance during the previous academic year.

Nominees are drawn from weekly LaRosa's MVP winners and by members of the media.

Each year, nominees are considered based solely upon High School accomplishments. Collegiate, professional, or other amateur achievements have no bearing on the selection process. The nominee must have graduated High School 10 years before eligibility may begin.

A maximum of 5 athletes are inducted into the Hall of Fame each year as follows:
  • One athlete who graduated prior to 1964
  • Up to four athletes who graduated from 1965 to ten years
    prior the current year
  • At least one female athlete
  • One coach who may still be active (Memorial Award)
With the passing of Hank Zurieck in 1997, the Hank Zurieck Memorial Coaches Award was introduced to be presented to a coach for his/her lifelong work with our area High Schools.
